With relatively high lake levels, this was another lackluster year for shorebirds on Jordan Lake. But there were waders!

I most often explore the NC coast during the off-season, and often do it alone. However, I’m not one to turn down a summer beach trip.

Our playbook consisted of cruising up and down South Core Banks in his truck, kayaking around the sound, chilling and surf fishing ...

You don’t really know a river until you follow it for days on end, observing its subtle evolution from stream to rushing river.

I spent a Friday off work paddling around Wrightsville and hiking around Holly Shelter GL.

As I told another friend before the trip, I’d be happy if I saw half of my target birds. And that I did.
